At first glance, this just looks like a typically odd “grotesque” pot of the kind that characterized the Martin Bros’ signature style but looking at it again the stern countenance might actually be a self-portrait of one of the Martin Brothers, staring somewhat disapprovingly at me and my camera in the reflection.

I wondered if I had used a cable release for these photographs since they are all uniformly pin sharp, and this answers that question – I think I had borrowed a solid tripod from the college photography unit, which helped.
